This Padam is an expression of a fearless woman who is in love with Lord Krishna. Her emotions oscillate between fury and bliss, and this masterpiece is a composition in Telugu by the legendary musician Shri Balamurali Krishna. From the very start, Rama Vaidyanathan shows us the angst that the woman feels at not being the only one who receives her lover's affection. At every point, whenever she believes it is indeed her who has been chosen as his favorite, her heart is broken by discoveries of his mischievous deeds elsewhere. She stomps, cajoles, mocks and eventually decides to confront the divine being with a series of pointed questions and remarks that reflect the inner agony she is facing.
"Yennadaina" is a reference to the peculiar nature of the mystical Krishna, whose attention drifts faster than the wind and leaves each Gopi wishing for more of his time. None shall truly escape his charm, but our Nayika believes in her right to be the only one at his side, and she draws a powerful line in the sand. She will chronicle his deeds, and each stanza is her scornful rebuttal to every action of his. It is a hurt yet proud declaration of a strong feminine force, one that refuses to cower and demands its own respect. It is the purest declaration of love, selfish to some, but encompassing the sheer will to have the one who rules your heart completely to yourself.
